Job Summary And Primary Responsibilities
As a Patient Care Specialist with NCS, you will drive a positive, seamless post-surgery patient experience through exemplary communication and customer service. In addition to billing and collections, you will field questions and educate patients on financial assistance as needed . You will also collaborate with patients and insurance companies to resolve any potential billing roadblocks. This is an entry-level position that will provide you with a variety of development opportunities to further your career in medical billing and customer service.

As a Patient Care Specialist with NCS, you will drive a positive, seamless post-surgery patient experience through exemplary communication and customer service. In addition to billing and collections, you will field questions and educate patients on financial assistance as needed . - Understands and maintains all governmental, regulatory, and company billing and compliance regulations and policies for payers
- Assists patients in the resolution of the accounts, including processing payments by phone, setting up payment plans, filing appeals, and providing information to patients regarding intraoperative monitoring (IOM) services
- Addresses patient billing inquiries and concerns from patients, surgeon offices, and facility customers
- Obtains and documents all necessary information by contacting the patient, physician's office, hospital, next of kin, insurance carrier, etc.
- Identifies and reports to management any payer issues with regards to billing and collections
- Reviews and logs correspondence regarding patient balances and collections
- Processes, maintains, and rectifies accounts/records in a timely manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills / Capabilities
- High level of quality awareness, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Data-oriented with basic proficiency in MS Office Applications, strong analytical skills, and the ability to create detailed reports
- Sense of urgency and customer-oriented mindset with understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance and Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Ability to work independently, multitask and handle various priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
