Job Summary And Primary Responsibilities

As the Sr. Design Transfer Lead, Operations, you will be on the cutting edge of Orthopedic Technology, developing and executing new supply chains that deliver unrivaled products. NuVasive is internationally known for its innovation, quality, and speed to market, and as the focal point for operations on new projects, you will be a key leader within the fast-paced development teams that turn these new ideas into a global reality. You will lead discovery, planning, and execution of improvements across various areas of the business by designing or improving systems and processes to integrate information, materials, and personnel across cross functional boundaries to maximize productivity, quality, and cost.

NuVasive is seeking an energized and experienced operations process engineering or detail-oriented project manager for this role. From inception to launch you will help develop the business case, identify and suggest potential new sourcing opportunities, and deliver the product through brand new supply chains of your development. You will develop best practices, coaching and supporting others within the team to help each launch beat its goals for robustness, cost, and speed to the customer.

This role will provide exposure to every facet of the supply chain as your teams look to you to coordinate successful launches to the marketplace. This Owner will take the initiative to recognize and mitigate risks, drive a focus on manufacturability and coordinate with responsible peers to flow product through internal and external operations. This role will also have the opportunity to evaluate supply chains within business development opportunities and influence NuVasive’s future.
  • Be the primary point of contact for all operations activities on new product launches.
  • Coordinate within operations worldwide to achieve an on-time and under-budget new product launch
  • Support design transfer/NPI activities as the Supply Chain Design Transfer leader
  • Perform financial or transactional analyses to examine existing processes and provide recommendations for improvement or transformation
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities within cross functional initiatives, cost reduction efforts, or quality initiatives
  • Identify key project stakeholders and provide ongoing project communications
  • Develop project dashboards and reports and transition them effectively to the organization
  • Coordinate with process owners and participants to develop or improve cross functional processes
  • Utilize cost data, ERP transactional data, time studies, ergonomic/safety assessments, process mapping, and engineering techniques such as root cause analysis to identify and implement improvements
  • Develop solutions to a variety of routine problems using computer and logic-based methods
  • Draft SOP’s, work instructions, business guidelines, and other operating documents
  • Be accountable and hold cross-functional teams accountable including engineering, marketing, sales, quality, regulatory, distribution and finance
  • Influence and implement sourcing strategy, developing new supply chains that are successful from award through to customer delivery
  • Recognize opportunities for process improvements and develop clear action plans to execute.
  • Create and update project trackers and detailed milestones as necessary
  • Drive scalability by identifying solutions within design and production

Education And Experience

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be skilled with MS Word, Excel, Visio, MS Project, and ERP Systems
  • Lean Manufacturing concepts, and related engineering concepts
  • Highly collaborative with an emphasis on problem solving and process-orientation
  • Ability to provide clear and frequent verbal and written communications; able to present to peers and management on deliverables status
  • Must be able to navigate, analyze and design/improve intangible process flows such as financial and ERP transactions
  • Ability to identify or implement automated processes is a plus
  • Manages change effectively within the Supply Chain and/or Project Team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical or Computer Engineering or similar discipline and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or 4+ years supply chain, operations process development, or operations project management experience
  • Project Management Certification (CAPM, PMP, PMI-PBA, or Agile) is a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus
  • Understanding of design/production processes, QA/validation procedures, IQ/OQ/PQ
  • Experience with inventory management, distribution, shipping, and freight processes is highly preferred (CPIM a plus)
  • Proven track record of ability to influence teams, creative problem solving, continuous improvement and self-prioritization
  • Experience with new product launches in high-mix, low-volume product lines utilizing an ERP system (SAP ECC)
  • Proven ability to monitor delivery schedules and communicate regularly with cross-functional owners to proactively maintain timelines
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to use baseline knowledge on similar products to leverage pricing and lead time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exposure to complex manufacturing (both additive and subtractive), capital equipment and PCBA manufacturing, and the associated secondary processes and inspections

Travel up to 25%
