About Carpe

Carpe is the fastest growing deodorant brand in the US. Our team is based in downtown Durham, NC, and the pace is fast. This role is freelance and fully remote, so you can work from wherever you are.

Our creative is a big reason we are winning. We have built a place where creative, experimentation, and performance work together, and our ads consistently outperform the market. The person in this seat gets to be a real part of that.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for freelance Video Editors to work closely with our Director of Creative Performance and turn raw footage into ads people actually want to watch. This is ongoing project work rather than a one off. We want a small group of editors we come back to again and again, so the longer we work together, the better you know the brand and the faster the whole thing gets. One of the best parts of this role is the chance to learn short form ad editing from some of the people who do it best, with real support along the way. You will never be figuring it out alone.

You will edit a wide range of video for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and sometimes national TV. The work spans vertical short form for paid social and horizontal content for YouTube and TV.

The feedback loop here is fast and genuinely fun. You cut something this week, it goes live next week, and a few days later you can see exactly how it performed. Then you fold in what you learned and make the next one even better.

If you live in Premiere, think in hooks, and love the craft of making a cut land, you will feel at home here.

If this excites you but you do not check every box below, we would still love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

• Edit creative video concepts for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and beyond

• Work closely with the Director of Creative Performance to bring each edit to its full potential

• Shape story, pacing, sound, and motion so every ad hooks in the first seconds and sells

• Look at how the work performed and use what you learn to make the next edit stronger

What We’re Looking For

The core of the job is this. If most of these are true, please reach out.

• You are a strong, fast editor with a real eye for story and pacing

• You have a portfolio that shows range, both vertical short form and horizontal

• You are comfortable in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects

• You have a feel for storytelling and selling, especially in short form

• You have your own editing setup and can run with a brief on your own

• You hit deadlines, and when something is at risk you say so early

• You care about getting better at this craft over time

How You Work

• You are collaborative and easy to trade feedback with

• You keep several edits moving without losing track of any of them

• You move quickly and iterate happily when notes come back

• You communicate clearly in writing, since most of our work together happens over Slack and email

• You take pride in the details, from color to sound to the final frame

Nice to Have

• Color grading, sound editing, and motion graphics

• Paid social creative for Meta, TikTok, and YouTube

• UGC and creator led content

• A sense of how your edits performed (views, spend, signups, retention, anything)
