Social Media Manager
Carpe
Job Title: Social Media Manager
Location: Durham, NC, in-person
Department: Marketing, Full time - Salaried
About Carpe
Carpe is the next generation of sweat care. We’re reimagining the antiperspirant industry by creating science-backed, effective products that make sweat irrelevant. Founded by two sweaty guys, Carpe has grown into a thriving DTC brand with millions of loyal customers shopping through Amazon and our website. Our culture is fast-paced, data-driven, and deeply customer-obsessed – and we’re just getting started.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a creative, fearless, and highly organized Social Media Manager to lead Carpe’s organic presence across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. You’ll be a hands-on content producer and strategist who thrives on jumping into trends, building community, and turning scrolls into superfans.
This role is ideal for someone who’s just as comfortable filming short-form content as they are managing a content calendar and engaging in comment threads. You’ll collaborate across teams (marketing, ecommerce, CX) to ensure a unified and compelling brand presence that supports retention, brand loyalty, and acquisition.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute a social media content strategy across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other emerging platforms
- Create and edit authentic, engaging social content – from daily TikToks to IG Reels, story graphics, memes, and UGC compilations
- Own the content calendar, balancing product launches, brand moments, and reactive content tied to trends and cultural moments
- Be regularly in front of the camera, contributing to both organic social content and performance ad campaigns alongside the creative team
- Monitor comments and DMs, escalating customer issues and ensuring Carpe’s voice shows up consistently
- Partner with Customer Experience (CX) to translate social feedback into actionable insights and improve retention
- Collaborate with eCommerce and Marketing to align messaging around promotions, launches, and evergreen campaigns
- Track key KPIs (engagement, growth, content performance) and optimize based on weekly learnings
- Support the creative team during ad shoots – helping with prep, organization, and execution to ensure smooth production
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate spontaneous opportunities – such as late-night shoots or last-minute travel (e.g., NYC trips for content capture)
Who You Are
- 2–4+ years of experience running social for a DTC or CPG brand
- Strong creator instincts with a bias toward video-first content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)
- Able to self-produce short-form video and graphics (using CapCut, InShot, Canva, or similar tools)
- Comfortable with rapid iteration, creative risk-taking, and wearing many hats
- Strong communicator with excellent writing and visual storytelling chops
- Organized and data-literate – you understand how social ladders up to performance
- A culture sponge who stays tapped into internet trends and platform updates
Bonus If You Have
- Experience working with a CX team to improve sentiment and support responses
- Familiarity with paid social boosting
- A love of testing and iterating based on real-time engagement metrics
- Experience working in a fast-paced, direct-to-consumer eCommerce environment
What You’ll Get
- Competitive salary
- Company-provided computer of your choice
- Health insurance coverage with Carpe contributing to a significant portion of the costs, with options for vision and dental coverage
- Employer-paid life insurance
- 401k
- Flexible PTO
- Company-provided snacks, drinks, lunches, etc.
- The chance to create the next consumer sensation, working alongside a team of brilliant, determined, and loving people
